Decode a supported HEIC/HEIF still image locally and encode the selected 8-bit SDR pixels as PNG. ResizeNest preserves supported alpha but does not claim PNG can restore detail already lost in the HEIC source.

image processing stays in your browser. ResizeNest does not need your original image uploaded to an application server.
Results come from the actual processing pipeline, with measured dimensions, bytes and format instead of placeholder estimates.
Process one image or a local batch, then download current successful results.
Three simple steps
Choose, drop or paste HEIC/HEIF files. The browser worker inspects top-level still images and selects the decoder-reported primary image by default.
Choose another top-level still image when available, optionally resize, and acknowledge an unverified color profile when the source does not provide one ResizeNest can verify.
Convert selected files or the batch, then download current PNG results or a ZIP on /heic-to-png.
Useful details
Understand what the tool does before you download the result.
HEIC to PNG reuses the same libheif-js browser decoder and shared ResizeNest image pipeline as HEIC to JPG. It does not create a second HEIC engine or upload the source.
PNG encoding is lossless for the supported decoded 8-bit SDR pixel buffer. It cannot reconstruct detail, precision or source compression information already discarded before that decoded pixel buffer.
The current shared PNG encoder exposes no applied user-selectable effort or optimization-level setting. ResizeNest therefore keeps the output lossless without showing a slider that would not change the worker recipe.
When libheif reports alpha on the selected top-level image, the PNG path keeps that decoded alpha. ResizeNest does not invent transparency for an opaque HEIC source.
Higher-bit-depth and HDR HEIC are blocked instead of silently tone-mapped. Unverified color profiles require explicit SDR/sRGB acknowledgement, and wide-gamut/profile preservation is not claimed.
Each rerun reads the immutable original bytes and applies the current selected-image/resize recipe once. Current successful outputs can be downloaded individually or as a same-route ZIP.
Questions, answered
HEIC is designed for compact lossy storage, while PNG stores the supported decoded pixel buffer losslessly. The PNG can therefore be substantially larger, and ResizeNest reports the actual encoded byte count rather than promising a reduction.
No. PNG preserves decoded alpha only when the selected HEIC still image actually has alpha. It does not remove a background or invent transparency for an opaque source.
No. PNG avoids additional lossy compression after decode, but it cannot restore detail already lost in the HEIC source.
It preserves decoded alpha when the selected top-level still image actually has alpha. ResizeNest does not claim transparency when the source is opaque.
No. The PNG result contains the selected decoded still image only, not motion video, depth maps or other non-selected HEIF items.
No. The shared PNG recipe is lossless, and the current encoder exposes neither a JPEG-style quality control nor an applied user-selectable effort or optimization level. ResizeNest does not show a control that would have no effect.
