Rotate Images

Rotate one or more images after their source orientation is normalized. Choose a right angle or custom angle, preview the canvas behavior, and process the final pixels locally in your browser.

No account is required. Choose a file and work directly in this browser.

Processing runs in your browser. Local files are not uploaded to a ResizeNest processing server. With URL import, your browser connects directly to the source website; ResizeNest does not relay the file. Direct URL import works only when the source website allows cross-origin reading.

Drop JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF hereor paste an image. Rotation is applied after source orientation is normalized.

Private by design

image processing stays in your browser. ResizeNest does not need your original image uploaded to an application server.

Real output

Results come from the actual processing pipeline, with measured dimensions, bytes and format instead of placeholder estimates.

Simple workflow

Process one image or a local batch, then download current successful results.

Three simple steps

How to use rotate images

  1. 01

Choose, drop or paste one or more JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF images.

  2. 02

Rotate left or right by 90 degrees, choose 180 degrees, or enter a custom angle. Use Expand Canvas to keep the full rotated image or Keep Canvas when clipping is intentional.

  3. 03

Process the current rotation, review the actual output dimensions, then download one result or current successful results as a ZIP.

Useful details

Built for a clear, predictable result

Understand what the tool does before you download the result.

01

Rotation is not mirroring

Rotation changes the image angle around its center. A horizontal or vertical mirror is a different transform handled by the flip-image tool rather than being hidden inside rotation.

02

Orientation is normalized once

Camera EXIF orientation is applied before your requested rotation. The requested angle is then applied to the displayed image space, avoiding a second implicit orientation turn.

03

Expand Canvas or Keep Canvas

Expand Canvas grows the output bounds so the rotated image fits. Keep Canvas preserves the original canvas dimensions and can clip corners; the edit preview warns about that before processing.

04

Transparency and background

Alpha-capable outputs can keep transparent empty areas. JPEG is opaque, so empty areas use the selected background color before the final encode.

05

Fresh final encode

The rotate workflow transforms decoded pixels and performs one fresh final encode. It does not claim a lossless JPEG rotation, and repeated edits always start from the immutable original source.

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions

Is rotating a JPEG lossless?

No in this baseline. ResizeNest decodes the source, applies the rotation, and performs one fresh final encode. It does not label that workflow as a lossless JPEG transform.

What is the difference between Expand Canvas and Keep Canvas?

Expand Canvas increases the output bounds to contain the full rotated image. Keep Canvas preserves the source canvas size, which can clip image corners at many angles.

What happens to transparent empty areas?

PNG and other alpha-capable output paths can keep them transparent. JPEG cannot store alpha, so ResizeNest composites those areas onto the selected background color.

Does editing the rotation change the URL?

No. Angle changes, preview, processing, retry, results and downloads all remain on /rotate-image.
